ANZAC DAY 2011
They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

Pack 203 Enjoys 4th NSW Cuboree |
|
|
On Sunday the 9th of January, 1st Warilla cub scouts joined cubs from 1st Shellharbour and Unanderra for the NSW Cuboree, a 5 day camp at Cataract scout camp in which cubs from all over the state come to have an awesome time. The theme of the Cuboree was 'Time warp' and as such our cubs were transported to Pluto ( our mega packs home planet). From Pluto our cubs were time warped back into roman times with the Roman Warp, into space with a slide through the milky way with the Space Warp, into the water with the Marine Warp, back to colonial Australia times with Oz Warp and even a trip to the magical world with Mystery Warp.
Our Cubs enjoyed fun activities such as outdoor movies, a Pluto's got talent etition, chariot races, archery, water canons, Quidditch games, water slides, tabloid sports, destroying Nero's kitchen, making dilly bags, circus performances, learning magic, tattoos, throwing muddy wet sponges at Bagheera for dunk a leader. All Cubs and leaders from our packs took on challenge valley on Wednesday morning much to the delight of the cubs being covered head to toe in mud and watching the leaders also getting muddy and wet. Everyone missed there mums and dads, pops and nanas but we powered through it and focussed on all the fun to be had and the rain didn't even stop us . We would like to thank everyone that made it possible for us to have such a great time we could not have done it with out you all.

Spring into Corrimal |
|
|
1st Warilla Scouts for the second year in a row volunteered at Spring into Corrimal with Access Community Group. They participated in Wollongong Council’s Waste Wise Event as “Waste Educators”. After receiving training and induction, they were stationed at waste stations politely educating and mentoring the public on how to responsibly dispose of waste, recycling and compostable materials. Over 30,000 people were in attendance and dissemination of waste types was thorough with 2 x 4.3m skips being dedicated to recyclable materials and two 240lt wheely bins dedicated to compost alone – saving on landfill!
An outstanding job by the Scouts with certificates of appreciation and references given as well as some free rides provided with many thanks.
Regards
“BOOM”
